Defoamers can either prevent foam formation or remove existing foam in food products, thereby reducing surface tension during food processing. So, what are the methods for evaluating defoamers? Below… Defoamer manufacturer We will provide a detailed explanation for everyone.
1. Add the defoamers to be compared into the clear varnish according to a specified ratio, place the mixture in a glass bottle, and shake it on a shaker for 5 minutes. Observe the results immediately to make a preliminary assessment of each defoamer’s defoaming performance based on the amount of foam formed. After allowing the sample to stand for 10 or 30 minutes, re‑evaluate the foam height to compare the rate of defoaming.
2. Apply the paint film using a scraper fineness gauge to assess the defoamer’s compatibility with the system (and to determine whether cratering occurs).
3. After the foam in the system has dissipated, observe the clarity of the system and check for any signs of turbidity, layering, or surface oil.
4. Storage Stability: After storing for half a month, repeat the experiments described in steps 1, 2, and 3 to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of the defoamer.
5. Determine the addition amount.
