1. Vibration method: By subjecting the sample to repeated vibrations, the foam density is determined; this method is suitable for low-viscosity paints or emulsions.
2. Graduated cylinder method: Add a specified amount of coating to a graduated cylinder, then add an aqueous defoamer. After shaking, periodically observe the foam height.
3. Bubble‑generation method: Air is introduced directly to produce foam in the system. After adding a defoamer, periodically measure the volume of the outlet air and record the foam height.
4. Cyclic method: After defoaming, allow any remaining foam to drain into the container, and record the foam height at regular intervals.
5. High-Speed Stirring Method: After high-speed stirring, the foam level is assessed; this method is suitable for low-viscosity coatings.
6. Specific Gravity Cup Method: Add the coating and a water-based defoamer to a homogenizer at high speed while stirring, then measure the foam height and density. This method is suitable for high-viscosity coatings.
