Industrial fermentation defoamer is a specialized defoaming emulsion designed to eliminate foam generated during biological fermentation. Its formulation includes polysiloxane, dispersants, and nonionic surfactants. After exposure to high‑temperature sterilization, it automatically re‑emulsifies, preventing oil–water separation or demulsification in the fermentation broth and thus avoiding adverse effects on performance. With good hydrophilicity, it spreads readily in foaming media and exhibits strong defoaming efficacy; however, its solubility is relatively high, and its defoaming activity tends to be short‑lived. Consequently, it performs particularly well in viscous fermentation broths.
Some manufacturers may still be struggling with foam issues even after using industrial fermentation defoamers, leaving them puzzled. First, it’s important to determine whether the defoamer has expired or lost its effectiveness due to improper storage. Alternatively, the dosage may be too low to achieve the desired results in an effort to cut costs. The recommended usage rate is 0.1–0.3%, which can be adjusted based on specific conditions. Before use, carefully read the product label to understand its intended applications and ensure proper handling.
