Today, we’ll provide a detailed overview of how to dilute defoamers:
Incorrect dilution method:
1. Dilute directly with water
2. Excessive shear force during dilution and stirring
3. No biocide was added after dilution.
What are the potential harms?
1. Defoamers may separate into layers and demulsify, compromising their effectiveness.
2. Precipitation forms, affecting product quality;
3. It disrupts the structure of the defoamer, rendering the product ineffective.
4. It emits an unpleasant odor, affecting the user experience;
The correct dilution method:
1. Prepare thickening water
① Prepare a 10–20% NaOH solution.
② Prepare a solution containing 2–3% ASE60 thickener.
③ Adjust the pH to 7–8.
2. Thickening water-dilutable defoamer
According to the dilution ratio, slowly add the thickening water to the defoamer while stirring; during production, maintain a stirring speed of 60–70 rpm and avoid using high-shear mixing for dilution.
3. Add additional biocide
After stirring thoroughly, add an appropriate amount of biocide; once well mixed, filter and discharge the product.
