Because detergents contain certain surfactants with strong foaming properties, the surface tension of water during washing generates copious foam. On the water’s surface, the mutual attraction among water molecules is stronger than the attraction between water molecules and air, causing these molecules to adhere to one another and form bubbles visible to the naked eye.
